Job Overview
The role focuses on expanding and maintaining client relationships within the agribusiness sector of commercial banking. The incumbent is expected to implement sector-specific solutions, tools, and initiatives to enhance client experiences and bank profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop tailored responses to clients' financial needs, including comprehensive reviews of financial statements and payment schedules to address issues such as cash flow challenges, with appropriate referrals to Credit where necessary.
- Detect and correct revenue losses within the managed portfolio by recommending appropriate lending structures based on client credit profiles.
- Gather and interpret pertinent market data and trends within clients' operating environments to proactively inform clients and team members.
- Discover new business avenues and grow existing client relationships to meet financial objectives through asset and liability optimization, transaction handling, margin management, and revenue generation.
- Monitor and manage client exposure and collateral to mitigate concentration risks, and customize credit facility structures that align with client requirements and risk parameters.
- Maintain a balanced relationship between the bank’s Balance Sheet and Income Statement by overseeing facility margins for portfolio clients.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or related fields from an accredited institution.
- Five to seven years of experience in relationship management within business or commercial banking environments.
- Proven expertise in engaging with clients at various organizational levels.
- Comprehensive knowledge of banking products, specialized financial structures, budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and financial analysis of clients.
- Proficient in preparing and presenting Credit applications.
- Familiarity with agricultural sector trends, players, value chains, and commodities, including understanding of farmer groups, associations, cooperatives, producer organizations, and SACCOs.
