Role Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the safe upkeep, repair, and replacement of equipment and systems within the plant to maximize production output and quality. This role includes hands-on involvement in day-to-day maintenance tasks while managing the maintenance program aligned with industry best standards, emphasizing planning, scheduling, and preventative and predictive maintenance approaches. The position is pivotal in advancing a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) culture throughout maintenance and operational functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive positive organizational change by motivating, recognizing, and inspiring team members to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Uphold stringent safety, environmental, and process compliance standards.
- Lead hazard identification, assessment, and control initiatives through behavior-based safety and risk assessment programs; oversee all maintenance activities during shifts.
- Enhance employee engagement and labour relations via continuous improvement participation, problem reporting, team problem-solving sessions, and enforce accountability through education, motivation, and coaching.
- Engage in root cause analysis methods such as 5 Whys and fishbone diagrams collaboratively with teams.
- Support and improve plant operational efficiency while aligning with departmental objectives.
- Ensure proper documentation, including compliance reports, checklists, production logs, metrics, and incident investigations.
- Facilitate productive meetings and promote open team communication.
- Conduct job training using standard work descriptions, SOPs, and work instructions.
- Implement and participate in safety training programs including STOP and FLRA.
- Address conflicts promptly and ensure behaviors comply with company values, seeking assistance when needed.
- Enforce consistent follow-up on 5S workplace organization practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-secondary education such as a degree or diploma in industrial technology, engineering, business administration, or management is preferred.
- At least 3 years of leadership experience in industrial settings, with experience in crushing or mining considered advantageous.
- Flexibility to work in shift patterns.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with proven leadership, coaching, mentoring, delegation, facilitation, and project/time management capabilities.
- Experience in process safety management and fostering a workplace culture that strives for zero accidents.
- Demonstrated success in morale-building and continuous performance improvement of teams.
- Commitment to initiating positive changes through continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
- Personal integrity and respect for others, fostering teamwork, collaboration, and accountability.
- Proactive project leadership with a history of achieving strategic goals.
- Knowledge of and compliance with regulatory standards (OH&S, environmental, and labour laws).
- Strong PC proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience navigating unionized work environments.
