Overview
The Maintenance Planner coordinates all maintenance activities—including preventive, predictive, and corrective tasks—to maximize equipment uptime and operational efficiency. Acting as a vital liaison between Production and Maintenance departments, they develop detailed work packages, organize maintenance schedules, secure necessary materials and resources, and contribute to ongoing reliability improvements while adhering to safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage maintenance plans covering preventive, predictive, and corrective measures.
- Prepare comprehensive work packages detailing job scopes, labor needs, tools, parts, permits, and safety measures.
- Evaluate maintenance requests and prioritize based on equipment criticality and production needs.
- Collaborate with Production and Maintenance teams to enhance planning efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Ensure availability of spare parts and resources prior to commencement of maintenance works.
- Formulate weekly and monthly maintenance schedules with Operations coordination.
- Oversee execution of work orders and update plans as necessary.
- Monitor maintenance backlog and optimize allocation of resources.
- Provide support during shutdowns, turnarounds, and major overhauls.
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Analyze equipment performance and failure data to identify improvement opportunities and recommend maintenance optimizations.
- Track key performance indicators such as equipment availability, downtime, schedule adherence, and cost efficiency.
- Engage in root cause failure analysis and continuous improvement projects.
- Ensure all maintenance activities meet Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and regulatory standards.
- Include risk assessments, permits, and safety measures in all work packages.
- Participate in hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety audits to promote a robust safety culture.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with a minimum of 3 years focused on maintenance planning and scheduling.
- Experience in aluminum smelting, extrusion, or heavy manufacturing industries is highly advantageous.
- Preferred background working with notable industrial firms such as Hadeed, Tasnee, SABIC, Sadara, S-Chem, or Sipchem.
- Proficiency in CMMS tools like SAP PM, IBM Maximo, Oracle EAM, or comparable software.
- Strong understanding of preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance methodologies.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
