Lift/Elevator Technician

Overview

Seeking an experienced Lift/Elevator Technician skilled in installing and maintaining stairlift and elevator systems. The role involves site surveying, precise installation, routine servicing, troubleshooting, and ensuring safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform site surveys measuring staircase dimensions, angles, landings, and identifying obstacles prior to installation.
• Install straight and curved stairlift rail systems according to manufacturer specifications and site conditions.
• Secure rail brackets to various staircase structures such as wood, concrete, or open-tread stairs.
• Wire and connect electrical components including charging stations, control units, and seat mechanisms.
• Test operation range, safety sensors, and emergency stop functions to confirm proper installation.
• Conduct scheduled maintenance visits under Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC).
• Lubricate rails, examine drive belts and gears, and monitor battery condition.
• Calibrate safety devices including obstruction detectors, seatbelt sensors, and swivel locks.
• Replace worn components such as batteries, remote controls, upholstery, and charging contacts.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults during breakdown service calls.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards like EN 81-40 or equivalent local regulations.
• Perform load testing and certify safety post-installation.
• Maintain accurate documentation including service reports, safety checklists, and warranty forms.
• Demonstrate proper product usage to customers, focusing on elderly and persons with disabilities.
• Provide troubleshooting support during warranty and AMC periods and escalate complex issues to engineering or OEM teams.
• Submit detailed installation and service reports, often accompanied by photographs and checklists.
• Coordinate with sales and operations teams to ensure site readiness prior to installations.
• Manage inventory of spare parts in assigned geographic territory.
