Role Overview

As a Legal Analyst in Data Privacy, you will play a key role in safeguarding Sephora's customers, employees, and business by assisting the Privacy Legal team through thorough research, analysis, and management of privacy compliance efforts. Your contributions will strengthen our data privacy programs by identifying and mitigating risks and supporting responsible data usage across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with litigation and discovery processes involving privacy-related matters.
  • Collaborate across departments to identify, assess, and reduce privacy risks within business operations.
  • Manage investigation and resolution of internal and external privacy incidents, contributing to enhancements in the Privacy Response Plan.
  • Support responses to government and regulatory inquiries related to privacy compliance.
  • Develop and maintain privacy policies, procedures, and related documentation.
  • Participate in privacy training initiatives to increase organizational awareness of best privacy practices.
  • Oversee internal privacy workflows and stay updated on evolving domestic and international privacy laws and regulations.
  • Work alongside legal, business, and external partners to uphold privacy compliance standards.
  • Contribute to annual privacy projects aimed at operational optimization and compliance readiness.
  • Assist with third-party privacy risk assessments, data inventories, and processing activity records.
  • Respond to privacy queries and investigate complaints, providing findings and recommendations.
  • Conduct detailed legal research on privacy issues connected to marketing, business initiatives, emerging technologies, and AI.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or a comparable mix of education and relevant experience.
  • Between 3 to 5 years experience in privacy support, data protection, compliance, or legal operations.
  • Well-versed in U.S. and international privacy regulations such as CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, PIPEDA, state laws, breach notifications, and digital advertising principles.
  • Certifications like CIPP/US and/or CIPM preferred.
  • Experience with privacy reviews related to AI, digital advertising, or emerging technology is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with good risk assessment skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills for handling multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated with capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation, drafting, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with databases, document management tools, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Adaptable, curious, and committed to learning amid an evolving privacy and regulatory environment.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary ranges from $127,000 to $139,000, influenced by qualifications, relevant experience, certifications, education, and job location. Eligible employees may earn bonuses.
