Position Summary

We are hiring a Lead or Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Power Business Unit in Chennai. This role focuses on leading the design and execution of LV/MV/HV/EHV substation projects within the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) sector. Key duties include technical leadership, project management, tendering assistance, multidisciplinary coordination, and maintaining quality assurance throughout all design phases from concept through Issued for Construction (IFC).

Key Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs adhering to quality and timeline expectations.
• Apply specified design workflows and processes to satisfy internal quality and project mandates.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) protocols during all design phases.
• Utilize project-specific, utility, and international standards effectively.
• Inspire and guide the engineering and design team.
• Achieve and exceed client requirements and expectations.
• Maintain project documentation aligned with the company’s Document Management System.
• Prepare engineering estimates and technical proposals for tenders and bids.
• Stay informed on evolving standards, codes, and regulations relevant to discipline work and project execution.
• Coordinate daily activities with other disciplines and functional teams.

Skills and Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of electrical system design for substations spanning LV to EHV, including base design, detailed design, and IFC stages.
• Experience with Transmission and Distribution functions interfacing with construction contractors and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Proficiency in preparing equipment layouts such as GIS, switchgear, transformers, capacitor banks, as well as trays, duct banks, tunnel layouts, lighting, shielding, earthing, and AC/DC auxiliary system design.
• Familiarity with international and regional standards including IEC, IEEE, British Standards, Saudi Standards, SASO, and SEC standards.
• Strong command of design software like CDEGS, Dialux, Building Designer, MicroStation, and AutoCAD; basic knowledge of 3D modeling tools and Document Management Systems.
• Enthusiasm for electrical power systems, creative leadership capability in design and project management, and mentorship skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with strong presentation and documentation abilities.

Eligibility and Educational Requirements

B.E. or B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
