About the Role
The Lead Graphic Designer position within Disney Experiences is based in Glendale, CA, reporting to the Senior Manager of Graphic Design. This role demands a highly creative, strategic, and forward-thinking individual capable of handling projects of varied complexity while delivering artwork from conception to final production under tight deadlines and high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop graphic assets for style guides and portfolios spanning multiple properties and divisions.
- Oversee graphic design work for various categories and numerous franchise lines.
- Generate innovative ideas for franchise growth and expansion.
- Develop new art styles and techniques aligned with current market trends.
- Participate in important trade shows and exhibitions to stay updated on design trends and product innovations.
- Continuously explore and incorporate new trends and innovations in graphic design and branding.
- Contribute new product concepts and engage in brainstorming sessions.
- Maintain artistic and creative leadership locally and globally to ensure excellence in graphic design and branding.
- Collaborate with internal teams including product design and content partners for creative development of new intellectual properties.
- Foster a strong graphic design and branding community within Disney Consumer Products.
- Translate graphic design and branding effectively into products.
- Bring fresh, inventive ideas and maintain awareness of marketplace trends.
- Present creative concepts confidently in both formal and informal environments.
- Work cooperatively with team members and demonstrate ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness.
- Partner closely with artists to develop art that reflects trends, consumer insights, studio initiatives, and franchise priorities.
Qualifications and Skills
- Six to eight years of relevant experience in graphic design, character illustration, or merchandise design.
- Extensive expertise in graphic design and branding principles.
- Superior communication skills to present and promote creative ideas effectively.
- Strong abilities in traditional and digital drawing, as well as concept development.
- Experience illustrating and stylizing characters is advantageous.
- In-depth understanding of fashion and merchandise design.
- Skills in hand lettering and custom typography.
- Excellent interpersonal, people management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Highly motivated with capability to inspire and lead others strategically.
- Proficient in creative software including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Creative Suite, and Keynote.
Educational Requirements
A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, or related fields is required.
Additional Information
The Lead Graphic Designer works closely with all artists and designers on the team, as well as leadership roles in graphic design, art and story direction, operations, production, packaging, product design, commercialization, franchise, retail, and studio partners such as Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Disney+ among others.
The salary range for this position is $95,500 to $128,000 annually, with the final offer depending on factors like location, expertise, and experience. Additional compensation may include bonuses or long-term incentives along with a comprehensive package of medical, financial, and other benefits.
