Job Overview

The role of the Laboratory Technician involves the precise collection, processing, and analysis of patient specimens to produce dependable laboratory results. This position demands adherence to quality standards, infection control, and patient safety protocols within a medical center environment.

Main Duties

  • Collect blood and various clinical samples following approved protocols.
  • Confirm patient identity and ensure accurate specimen labeling.
  • Register, process, store, and transport specimens appropriately.
  • Conduct laboratory examinations across areas such as hematology, clinical chemistry, serology, urinalysis, microbiology, and other authorized disciplines.
  • Operate, calibrate, maintain, and clean laboratory instruments.
  • Implement internal quality control procedures and record findings systematically.
  • Detect and promptly report critical or abnormal findings to the relevant physician or supervisor.
  • Ensure precise data entry, validation, and prompt release of laboratory results.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels for reagents, consumables, and collection supplies.
  • Monitor shelf life and storage conditions of reagents diligently.
  • Comply strictly with infection-control, biosafety, and biomedical waste management protocols.
  • Keep comprehensive laboratory documentation including logs, maintenance details, and quality records.
  • Safeguard patient confidentiality and sensitive health information.
  • Engage in audits, proficiency tests, quality enhancement activities, and staff training initiatives.
  • Report promptly any equipment failures, incidents, errors, or specimen rejections.
  • Adhere to all organizational and regulatory policies applicable to the medical center.
  • Carry out additional laboratory-related tasks as directed by supervisors or management.

Qualifications and Eligibility

  • Applicants must be Saudi nationals.
  • Possess a diploma or bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a relevant discipline.
  • Hold valid professional classification and registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).
  • Preferably have prior experience in clinical laboratory settings.
  • Familiarity with laboratory instruments, quality control procedures, and infection prevention measures.
  • Proficient communication skills in both Arabic and English.
