Role overview
YZi Labs is seeking an investment professional who can spot, assess, and support early-stage opportunities across Web3 and DeFi. The role centers on backing emerging projects such as startups, protocols, decentralized applications, NFTs, and token-based ventures, with a focus on helping them scale through strategic capital deployment.
The team is described as open and entrepreneurial, with room to help shape investment direction and contribute to portfolio expansion in a fast-moving decentralized ecosystem.
Key responsibilities
- Research new developments across Web3, including Layer 1 and Layer 2 networks, DeFi, AI x Crypto, prediction markets, wallets, and tokenized assets.
- Identify promising Web3 and DeFi projects, then carry out detailed due diligence covering tokenomics, governance, and long-term ecosystem viability.
- Develop investment theses, structure transactions, and contribute to Investment Committee decisions.
- Advise portfolio companies on token design, governance models, community incentives, and protocol growth strategies.
- Monitor market shifts and regulatory updates, then communicate insights to internal stakeholders and the wider team.
Candidate profile
- At least 5 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, or early-stage Web3/DeFi investing.
- Demonstrated track record in sourcing and completing early-stage Web3 deals.
- Strong working knowledge of Web3 infrastructure, tokenomics, DAOs, liquidity pools, and staking mechanisms.
- Solid capability in financial modelling, valuation, and market analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex Web3 ideas clearly.
Preferred background
- Experience with token launches, incentive design, and active involvement in Web3 communities.
- Familiarity with tools such as Dune, Nansen, Token Terminal, or similar on-chain analytics platforms.
