Job Overview
The Integration Specialist will design, build, and support enterprise-level system integrations connecting academic, administrative, and cloud platforms at United Arab Emirates University. This role focuses on delivering secure, scalable, and dependable interfaces between systems such as Ellucian Banner, Oracle ERP, Microsoft 365, and other enterprise solutions by leveraging APIs, middleware, and cloud tools while adhering to UAEU's standards for architecture, security, and governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, deploy, and sustain integration processes between academic, administrative, cloud, and external systems using university-approved integration technologies aligned with enterprise architecture policies.
- Develop and maintain connectivity and data exchange between Banner, Oracle ERP, and internal or external systems as required.
- Build and support RESTful and SOAP web services, microservices, and event-based integrations.
- Define interface designs, data mappings, transformation rules, and workflow processes for integrations.
- Participate in full-cycle integration delivery including requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and ongoing support.
- Monitor performance and availability of integration solutions, promptly troubleshooting and optimizing them.
- Implement integration solutions that comply with institutional security policies and enterprise architecture standards.
- Support a hybrid environment spanning on-premises and cloud-based applications.
- Maintain continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines, manage source control, and oversee release processes.
- Work collaboratively with business stakeholders, technology teams, and vendors to deploy effective integrations.
- Document integration solutions and uphold technical and procedural standards.
- Ensure adherence to institutional security, privacy, and data governance rules.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies and recommend their applicability to enhance university integration capabilities.
- Follow departmental policies and procedures for integration development and maintenance.
- Undertake any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least five years of demonstrated experience in enterprise application integration, ideally within a higher education context.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of enterprise integration principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with API development, web services, middleware platforms, or integration tools.
- Proficiency integrating enterprise applications, databases, cloud services, and third-party software.
- Skilled in API design, data transformation techniques, interface specification, and system interoperability.
- Familiar with both relational and NoSQL database technologies.
- Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), DevOps methodologies, and CI/CD processes.
- Experience with cloud architectures and hybrid integration models.
- Background in higher education systems such as ERP or Student Information Systems is a plus.
- Relevant professional certifications in integration technologies, cloud platforms, enterprise architecture, or project management are advantageous.
