About the Role
Join the Department of Justice and Community Safety in Victoria as an Industry Officer at the Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct. This role involves training and supervising young people in industries such as horticulture, hospitality, or warehousing within a youth justice custodial environment. You will help guide youth in developing skills, routines, and confidence to aid their successful reintegration into the workforce after release. This is a full-time position with a salary range between $79,122 and $90,989 plus superannuation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide training and oversight of vocational and work programs tailored to young individuals.
- Support youth in managing daily routines, encourage teamwork, and promote positive behaviors.
- Demonstrate respectful relationship modelling and encourage pro-social conduct.
- Ensure safety standards through performing searches, supervision, and conducting dynamic risk assessments.
- Work on rostered shifts that may include nights and weekends.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate possesses practical experience in horticulture, hospitality, or warehousing and holds a strong emphasis on workplace safety. Applicants must either already have or be willing to obtain necessary clearances, including a Working with Children Check and a first aid certificate. The role includes completing a fully funded Certificate IV in Youth Justice.
- Proven industry or trade expertise with advanced safety knowledge.
- Aptitude for teaching the safe operation of tools, machinery, and equipment.
- Competency in using computer applications for documentation and reporting.
- Collaborative mindset and respect for cultural and background diversity.
