Company Overview
Compass Therapeutics, Inc., established in 2014 and based in Boston, Massachusetts, is a biopharmaceutical company specializing in antibody-based treatments for oncology. The company boasts a diverse development pipeline containing four clinical assets across various phases, focusing on innovative mechanisms and aiming for first- or best-in-class therapies for multiple cancer types. Their lead clinical-stage asset, tovecimig, has recently completed a late-stage randomized study on biliary tract cancer and is advancing toward a Biologics License Application (BLA) submission. As Compass prepares for its inaugural product launch, it is expanding its team to positively impact patient outcomes.
Role Overview
The Human Resources and Talent Acquisition (TA) team is looking for a dedicated full-time HR Generalist who will report directly to the Director of People. This role is based onsite in Brighton, MA for four days a week and requires strong multitasking capabilities to handle diverse HR and TA functions in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Director of People to align and achieve organizational HR and TA objectives ensuring adherence to compliance and efficiency.
- Manage daily HR and TA processes encompassing the entire employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding activities.
- Develop and maintain trustworthy relationships within the company to offer confidential, high-quality operational and administrative support.
- Act as the initial contact for employee inquiries, concerns, and HR service requests.
- Implement and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new hire orientation, benefits management, PTO administration, performance reviews, employee development programs, training, payroll assistance, and recognition initiatives.
- Work cross-functionally to tailor talent management practices suited to the scientific and technical workforce in a dynamic biotech setting.
- Support hiring managers by efficiently recruiting for part-time, full-time, and contractual roles, collaborating with external recruitment firms when needed.
- Maintain applicant tracking system (ATS) workflow including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, debriefs, background/reference checks, and compliance with work authorization processes.
- Ensure smooth transition of candidates into employees through effective onboarding experiences.
- Assist with workforce planning and talent calibration by monitoring hiring requirements.
- Oversee benefits administration including renewals, enrollments, and resolving related issues.
- Coordinate company-wide meetings, interviews, leadership offsites, and social events in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage sensitive employee documentation securely and maintain HR records in compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, upholding high confidentiality standards.
- Track mandatory training compliance such as safety protocols, anti-harassment, and insider trading training.
- Stay updated on industry trends, employment legislation, and HR best practices to provide informed guidance and lead company participation in market surveys.
- Monitor employee retention metrics and foster engagement through maintaining a positive culture, competitive compensation, and benefits.
- Use employee feedback to innovate, enhance processes, and streamline HR services for evolving organizational requirements.
- Empower the Culture Committee to organize events that enhance employee engagement and align with company mission and values.
- Lead HR programs such as employee recognition, performance management, onboarding, training, and company meetings independently over time.
- Maintain and update various HR-related databases including ADP, EENavigator, Greenhouse, Radford, HireRight, and support the implementation of new HR information systems.
- Complete additional HR and TA projects as business needs arise, including candidate screening, compensation and payroll support, audits, and employee relations tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years’ experience in Human Resources or Talent Acquisition, preferably within a small biotechnology environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in core HR and TA operations, covering recruitment, onboarding, benefits management, performance assessments, and offboarding.
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices and systems proficiency with effective problem-solving skills in resolving employee issues.
- Comprehensive understanding of talent acquisition processes such as collaboration with hiring managers, structured interviewing, recruitment best practices, and employer branding; biotech industry TA experience is an added advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional approach to follow-ups.
- Meticulous attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization abilities within a rapidly evolving environment, combined with a positive, customer-oriented mindset.
- Experience handling confidential information with integrity and sound judgment.
- Strong interpersonal skills fostering trusted internal and external relationships at all organizational levels.
- Capability to work independently with excellent organizational, prioritization, and analytical skills and an understanding of when escalation is necessary.
- Proficiency with ADP, Applicant Tracking Systems (experience with Greenhouse preferred), Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, and adaptability to new technologies.
- Self-driven with enthusiasm for new challenges and continuous development opportunities.
Compensation and Benefits
The offered salary range for this position is between $85,000 and $115,000 per annum USD. Compass Therapeutics provides a comprehensive compensation package including a base salary, discretionary bonus, and meaningful equity participation.
