Role Overview
This position involves being a vital member of the ward team, responsible for coordinating all patient facility services within the ward. Key duties include ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients by managing cleaning, catering, minor maintenance, and other tasks as directed by the ward sister or charge nurse.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee cleaning, catering, and minor ward maintenance to meet patient needs.
- Collaborate closely with contractors and support service teams to maintain quality standards.
- Conduct weekly clinical environment audits using Tendable software.
- Ensure that all patient care equipment is fully available to nursing staff at all times.
- Assist in monitoring and upholding cleaning standards on the ward.
- Perform spot cleaning for spillages promptly and effectively.
- Regularly clean general and specialized equipment such as drip stands, incubators, and commodes following cleaning policies.
- Maintain ward tidiness by removing clutter and organizing notice boards and signage.
- Identify and report any cleanliness issues to the ward sister.
- Carry out specialist cleaning of surfaces and furnishings.
- Monitor service delivery related to cleaning, food, linen, and environment, reporting results and agreeing on action plans with the ward sister.
- Manage the defects call log book by logging, reporting, tracking, and closing maintenance defects appropriately.
- Coordinate ad hoc maintenance through liaison with the support service helpdesk.
- Regularly monitor equipment condition according to established procedures.
- Dispose of clinical, domestic, and confidential waste according to policies.
- Maintain patient privacy and dignity during housekeeping duties.
- Safely store equipment requiring reprocessing.
- Order and manage stock related to infectious diseases.
