About the Role

We are inviting applications for a skilled Graphic Designer to become part of a high-achieving communications team supporting a significant Queensland Government entity. This role involves crafting creative and captivating content aimed at informing and engaging communities throughout North Queensland. The position is based either in Cairns or Townsville and involves work spanning various print and digital media to deliver top-tier visual communication products.

Key Responsibilities

• Create visually appealing and effective materials for print, digital, and video platforms.
• Develop publications, brochures, newsletters, presentations, social media content, advertisements, displays, and other communication collateral.
• Offer specialist design input ensuring consistency with corporate branding and accessibility standards.
• Convert complex subject matter into visually clear and compelling communication pieces.
• Juggle multiple projects and priorities, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work.
• Coordinate with external vendors including printers, photographers, videographers, and other creative professionals.
• Support ongoing improvement initiatives and collaborate with design teams throughout the department.

Candidate Requirements

• Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro) and Microsoft Office applications.
• Proven ability to produce compelling creative outputs within corporate or government settings.
• Understanding of branding guidelines, style manuals, and accessible document design principles (WCAG).
• Excellent organisational capabilities to manage concurrent projects effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills paired with keen attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• Five or more years of experience in graphic, digital, or visual design.
• Relevant tertiary education or industry-equivalent experience.
• Prior work experience with Queensland Government agencies highly regarded.

Additional Information

• The initial contract extends through 30 June 2027 with a possibility of extension.
• The role is office-based in Townsville or Cairns, with flexible work arrangements available after the probation period.
