Position Overview
We are recruiting two committed Grain Protection Officers for our Albany zone team, with positions based in Albany and Katanning. Candidates who reside locally or are keen to join the local community are encouraged to apply. This frontline role is essential to implementing and managing grain protection and fumigation activities across the region. No prior fumigation licenses or pesticide application experience are necessary as comprehensive training and certification support will be provided.
The role involves travel between various receival points within the Albany Zone using a company vehicle. The workweek is Monday through Friday (40 hours), with paid overtime during peak seasons.
Key Duties
- Execute grain fumigations according to established procedures.
- Support maintenance of phosphine effectiveness, identify and respond to contamination risks from insects, rodents, birds, and other threats to minimize or eliminate risks.
- Report on pesticide inventory and fumigation operations, including weed control, wash-down activities, rodent and feral bird control implementation, and facility storage integrity inspections.
- Collaborate with Grain Technology teams to verify compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and codes of practice.
- Assist Receival Points Operators by handling grain receipt, storage, and dispatch activities, ensuring efficient and hygienic operation and maintenance of storage facilities.
Candidate Profile
- Strong commitment to safety as a top priority.
- Enthusiasm to undertake training and obtain full licensure in grain protection procedures.
- Willingness to become proficient in fumigation techniques including dangerous goods management and pesticide safety.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license; possessing MR or HR licenses is advantageous.
- Experience or knowledge related to agriculture is beneficial but not essential.
