Programme Overview
The Ministry of Education in New Zealand is offering an 18-month permanent full-time graduate policy analyst programme commencing January 2027 in Wellington. This initiative provides an excellent opportunity to build a foundational career in policy development within a dynamic and impactful policy environment focused on shaping the educational future of Aotearoa.
Role Details
As a Graduate Policy Analyst, you will engage in two separate nine-month assignments within different policy teams. These placements will expose you to a variety of educational policy areas, supporting the development of equitable and outstanding outcomes for learners, their families, whānau, communities, and the wider society.
Candidate Profile
The programme seeks motivated and adaptable individuals from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds. Previous successful candidates have qualifications in areas such as history, economics, science, law, psychology, international studies, and politics. Candidates must have completed or be in their final year of an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification within the last two years and demonstrate a strong interest in policy work that affects education.

- Ability to adapt creatively and maintain effectiveness in a fast-paced and uncertain environment.
- A foundational understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the practical implications of supporting Māori educational success and Māori-Crown partnerships.
