Gold Buyer

Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Gold Buyer to join our team in Bangalore, responsible for managing sourcing, vendor relations, purchasing functions, and category planning tailored to the jewellery sector. The role demands robust expertise in the gold and jewellery market, accompanied by strong negotiation abilities and a data-driven approach to buying.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and implement buying strategies aligned with sales projections, business objectives, and category frameworks.
• Engage with current and prospective vendors to secure products, negotiating terms on pricing, minimum order quantities, delivery schedules, and quality benchmarks.
• Evaluate sales metrics, inventory status, turnover rates, and category outcomes to refine product selections.
• Collaborate closely with Design, Planning, Retail, and Operations departments to ensure product availability aligns with schedules.
• Manage purchase order workflows, oversee production timelines, and coordinate deliveries to adhere to launch and replenishment plans.
• Conduct comprehensive market research, competitor evaluations, and trend assessments to uncover opportunities and address assortment gaps.
• Validate that products fulfill quality standards, compliance, pricing targets, and margin requirements.
• Develop and sustain productive vendor partnerships, addressing concerns related to quality, cost, production, and timeliness.
• Assist with seasonal collection evaluations, category strategies, assortment development, and performance analysis.
• Keep abreast of market trends and gold price fluctuations to inform sourcing and buying choices.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of two years’ experience in gold or jewellery buying, merchandising, or procurement.
• In-depth knowledge of the gold and jewellery industry and vendor network dynamics.
• Strong business insight with proven negotiation and analytical skills.
• Experienced in cross-functional teamwork involving Design, Planning, Retail, and Operations units.
• Preference for candidates with backgrounds in gold jewellery companies, manufacturing, wholesale, or branded jewellery firms.
