Role Overview
The position of Geosynthetic Weaver involves operating industrial weaving looms to manufacture synthetic fabrics vital for geotechnical applications such as soil stabilization, erosion management, and environmental containment in infrastructure and landfill projects. This role reports directly to a Line Supervisor and emphasizes production quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate Itema rapier looms and monitor weaving settings to ensure proper fabric production.
- Conduct regular inspections of the fabric to identify defects, halting machinery as needed for repairs.
- Verify loom output for accuracy, including checking doff lengths and pattern alignment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical interruptions and assist service teams with weaving processes.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in the plant environment and perform scheduled preventative maintenance on weaving equipment.
Qualifications and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED is generally preferred.
- Prior experience in textile manufacturing, specifically weaving, warping, or tie-in work is strongly favored.
- Ability to work 8-hour shifts and routinely lift materials up to 20 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail with fundamental math, measurement, and basic reporting capabilities.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Work happens in traditional office settings as well as indoor and outdoor manufacturing facilities.
- Ability to lead or coordinate across organizational levels is required.
- Must be comfortable working in various physical positions such as sitting, standing, walking, and the ability to drive.
- Exposure to loud or distracting noise levels in manufacturing environments may occur.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment extensively including helmet with chinstrap, safety shoes, eye, hand, and hearing protection as required.
