Role overview
The FP&A Analyst will be a core member of the finance team and the main finance partner for the VIC and NSW Operations teams. This is a practical, site-based role located mainly at Dandenong South, focused on providing accurate analysis, commercial support, and decision-making insights across manufacturing costs, labour, logistics, overheads, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end reporting.
The position is well suited to someone who enjoys working closely with operational teams, understanding the drivers behind site performance, and turning data into clear financial insight.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the everyday finance contact for the VIC and NSW Operations teams and build productive working relationships.
- Work with operations stakeholders to interpret productivity initiatives, cost pressures, and site drivers, and convert them into financial impact.
- Help site leaders understand cost centre performance, variance movements, and operating insights.
- Coordinate the Dandenong South site inputs for annual budgets and recurring forecasts in Planful, covering overheads, labour, repairs and maintenance, and other site operating expenses.
- Update ingredient and packaging cost assumptions in Planful with Procurement support to keep pricing inputs current.
- Monitor capital expenditure against budget and assist with payback and return-on-investment analysis for capital initiatives.
- Track working capital and inventory measures relevant to the site, including ingredient days cover.
- Produce monthly management reports and commentary on site cost performance using Omni Analytics and NetSuite data.
- Look into and help fix allocation and coding issues in partnership with Procurement and Operations.
- Provide ad hoc analysis for operational decisions, capital requests, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Maintain clear, accurate working files, Notion pages, and reporting notes related to site finance activity.
- Support ongoing improvement of manufacturing finance processes, controls, and reporting templates.
- Help improve the accuracy of spend cube and inventory data used by the wider FP&A function.
Requirements
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or a closely related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in FP&A, commercial finance, cost accounting, or management accounting, ideally in FMCG, manufacturing, or food production.
- Previous exposure to business partnering with operational or manufacturing teams is preferred.
- Strong Excel capability, including pivot tables, lookups, and basic financial modelling.
- Working knowledge of ERP and planning tools such as NetSuite and Planful, or similar platforms, is beneficial.
- Ability to work with large datasets and quickly learn new systems.
- Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker, or with SQL, would be an advantage, though it is not essential.
- Exposure to AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT is helpful.
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to turn data into practical recommendations.
- Confident communication skills for working with non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong organisation, attention to detail, and accuracy.
- Comfort working independently in a site-based role while staying connected to the broader finance team.
- A hands-on, visible, and proactive working style.
- Adaptability and curiosity, with a growth mindset toward building technical and financial capability.
Benefits
- Opportunity to join a fast-growing start-up and see how a physical-product business sustains rapid growth.
- Exposure to varied challenges and expanding responsibilities as the facility and team grow.
- An annual personal development budget.
- Work with a sustainability-focused business that is carbon-negative and plastic-negative.
- Become part of a diverse, high-performing team with varied backgrounds and geographies.
- Up to 18 weeks of paid parental leave top-up.
- Wellbeing support and tools for mental and physical health.
- Pet-focused support, including flexible arrangements for new pets, pet-friendly offices, discounts, and a financial allowance for dog training and care.
