Position Overview
The Financial Controller will take a pivotal leadership role overseeing financial functions internationally. Reporting to the Director-Ireland, they will ensure financial integrity through planning, reporting, compliance, risk management, and business partnership activities. The role demands a commercially aware finance expert to support growth, enhance processes, increase financial transparency, and provide actionable insights for strategic decisions. The role involves close collaboration with senior management, operational teams, and global stakeholders to optimise financial results and maintain strong internal controls.
Key Duties
- Manage daily finance operations ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting and robust control frameworks.
- Continuously improve financial systems, processes, and controls, supporting the CFO in strategic planning.
- Ensure compliance with regulations, tax requirements, and corporate governance.
- Prepare management accounts, conduct financial analyses, and generate performance reports for leadership and shareholders.
- Oversee month-end/year-end closures, audits, and liaise with external advisors and regulators.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, including rolling forecasts and financial modelling.
- Collaborate with business units to enforce financial accountability and support profitable growth.
- Manage financial risk frameworks and internal controls, monitor contractual risks and compliance with accounting standards.
- Drive finance system optimisations, including ERP and business intelligence tools, to enable automated, scalable processes and data-driven insights.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics and fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) with professional body membership.
- Preferred: Master's degree (MBA or related), advanced certifications in Financial Management, Corporate Finance, Risk, or Business Analytics.
- At least 7–10 years of progressive financial experience including senior management roles, with expertise in IFRS, statutory reporting, taxation, and corporate governance.
- Demonstrated leadership in finance teams and successful process enhancements.
- Experience with ERP and financial reporting tools; familiarity with consultancy, engineering, energy, industrial services, or international/multi-entity organisations is advantageous.
- Knowledge of analytical platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics, Power BI, or Tableau is beneficial.
