Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking an Estimator to join our team who will be instrumental in creating precise, competitive, and reliable cost estimates that contribute directly to converting opportunities into profitable and feasible projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documents including drawings, specifications, and related information to accurately define project scope, identify risks and opportunities, and request further details when necessary.
- Conduct site visits to assess site constraints, logistics, construction methodologies, and associated risks.
- Develop detailed conceptual, budget, and fixed-price estimates by defining the scope, setting clear assumptions and inclusions/exclusions, and preparing labor, plant, materials, subcontractor, and methodology-based cost build-ups.
- Collaborate with Operations to establish work programs, rates, suitable work packages, and identify potential subcontractors.
- Issue requests for quotations, analyze subcontractor bids, and ensure thorough comparison and evaluation.
- Prepare bid clarification and risk registers to document key considerations.
- Liaise with HSQE, Technical Solutions, Operations, and Commercial teams to ensure estimates align with safe, practical, and deliverable methodologies.
- Facilitate tender launches, reviews during the bid process, and contract settlement meetings.
- Provide support during contract negotiations by delivering re-pricing and contractual information.
- Ensure smooth transition of awarded tenders to the Operations and Delivery teams.
- Comply with bid governance procedures, maintaining documentation for approval stages including offer letters, Bills of Quantities, activity schedules, and clarifications.
- Maintain comprehensive, clear, and auditable records of estimates and assumptions.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners while supporting the identification of new and existing sales opportunities.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a comparable construction-related qualification is preferred.
- Proven experience developing business within structural repair and/or specialist construction sectors is essential.
- Broad multidisciplinary expertise preferred in areas such as bridge repairs, concrete repairs, cathodic protection, structural strengthening, external building refurbishment, jacking and propping, bearing replacement, carbon fiber strengthening, and post-tensioning systems.
- Previous operational or project experience is advantageous.
- Strong professional network and connections within the construction industry.
