Equipment Supervisor

About the Role

This position involves managing the operation, upkeep, and staffing of rubber removal and surface cleaning tasks on runways, taxiways, and aprons at both Hamad International Airport and Doha International Airport. The role focuses on ensuring strict adherence to aviation safety standards, optimizing equipment functionality, and coordinating effective schedules to maintain runway friction and ensure continuous readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Motor Transport Section to plan preventive maintenance for all pavement maintenance machinery, ensuring maintenance is conducted promptly.
• Oversee equipment breakdowns and corrective repairs by liaising with the Motor Transport Section to reduce downtime and maintain equipment operation during high-demand periods.
• Conduct scheduled inspections and monitoring of vehicles and equipment (including rubber removal machines, sweepers, friction testers) to confirm proper functioning and safety availability.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records, including parts replaced and pertinent parameters, to monitor and analyze equipment performance thoroughly.
• Organize and coordinate training sessions for operators on equipment operation, safety protocols, and best practices to guarantee safety and operational efficiency.
• Develop and deliver Equipment Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports with the line manager to assess performance, recognize patterns, and promote continual improvements.
• Manage inventory for spare parts, consumables, and tools, balancing stock to prevent shortages or excess and increase operational efficiency.
• Coordinate with suppliers and OEMs to ensure timely maintenance, repairs, calibrations, and equipment upgrades.
• Operate mechanical sweepers and rubber removal machines as needed, demonstrating practical expertise.
• Analyze equipment availability and service schedules to effectively manage utilization of all airfield equipment.
• Lead adverse weather recalibration drills, updating operators on emergency procedures to ensure preparedness.
• Maintain proactive communication with equipment operators to ensure clear understanding and high team performance aligned with work plans.
• Host regular toolbox talks to educate staff on safety measures throughout project phases, actively preventing accidents and incidents.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the Head of Department related to the role.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a High School, Vocational, or Diploma qualification with a minimum of 3 years related experience; or a Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years relevant experience preferred.
• Have 2-3 years experience in a supervisory capacity in airfield maintenance operations.
• Demonstrate strong theoretical and practical knowledge of airfield pavement machinery such as sweepers, friction testers, and rubber removal equipment.
• Understand and comply with local regulations and Code of Practice standards.
• Hold formal training or certification related to equipment operation or maintenance.
• Experience operating within multiple airport environments.
• Familiarity with emergency response strategies and handling adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to supervise internal operators and external contractors effectively.
• Capable of personnel scheduling and daily operations management.
• Skilled in preparing diverse report formats.
• Adept at reading and interpreting specifications, manuals, and preventive maintenance checklists.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills across various organizational levels.
• Knowledgeable about airport operational limitations and safety protocols.
• Detail-oriented during routine inspections and compliance checks.
• Leadership abilities with a service-oriented mindset and proactive attitude towards tasks.
• Awareness of airside facility regulations, ICAO standards, and airfield safety measures.
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet time constraints.

Additional Details

Applications close on July 31, 2026. The role is under the engineering job family and is based in Doha, Qatar. Responsibilities may extend to other department duties as directed by the department head. The role requires hands-on operational capability as well as managerial oversight to ensure operational excellence and safety compliance across multiple airport sites.
