Environmental Project Engineer

About the Role

Enva’s Organics division, based in Portlaoise, provides essential services to water and wastewater treatment plant operators across Ireland and the UK. With a focus on sustainable waste and environmental solutions, the company partners closely with municipalities, water companies, and private industries to deliver market-leading environmental service responses.

We are expanding our Environmental Services division and seeking an Environmental Project Engineer to support and manage operations within a portfolio of ongoing projects. This position offers robust prospects for swift personal development, ideal for graduates in engineering, agriculture, or environmental science with 1 to 3 years of relevant industry experience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Support project managers in delivering projects efficiently while ensuring health, safety, and compliance.
• Engage and coordinate with clients, contractors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
• Supervise site operations and subcontractor activities.
• Conduct environmental monitoring tasks such as inspections, sampling, and analysis.
• Prepare nutrient management plans.
• Handle day-to-day management of client relationships and provide detailed project reporting.
• Identify and resolve operational challenges on sites.
• Contribute to environmental planning, monitoring, and reporting processes.
• Design and prepare applications for permits, waste licenses, and planning approvals.
• Assist specification and procurement of necessary plant and equipment.
• Support technical troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts on projects.
• Aid in business development activities to cultivate new and existing client opportunities.
• Offer ideas to enhance project delivery and service offerings.
• Conduct research and support innovation initiatives to maintain Enva's leadership in environmental services.

Candidate Profile and Skills

• A primary degree in Engineering (civil, environmental, chemical, or mechanical), Science, Agriculture, or Environmental fields.
• Between 1 to 3 years of experience preferably in engineering, environmental science, or waste management industries.
• Agricultural knowledge is advantageous.
• Strong report-writing capabilities and proficiency with MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Solid research and technical reporting skills.
• Familiarity with plant and equipment management is beneficial.
• Practical experience using AutoCAD and ArcGIS software.
• Knowledge of environmental monitoring and reporting is a plus.
• Ability to quickly grasp technical and operational challenges within the Environmental Services sector.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain teamwork and client relations.
• Proactive self-starting attitude with an ambition to develop business and team growth.
• Possession of a full, clean driving license.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel nationwide.
