Role Overview

The Editor position involves reviewing and refining various scientific and medical content formats, such as manuscripts, abstracts, posters, presentations, PDFs, and digital materials. Editors ensure content adheres to grammatical precision, stylistic consistency, and clarity, aligning with house, client, and journal style guidelines. The role demands expert application of digital markup, tracked changes, and comments to deliver clear editorial feedback.

Editors contribute to timely project completion by managing dummy submissions and keeping the team informed of journal and congress requirements. They collaborate across teams to maintain best practices and uphold quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Edit a diverse range of content outputs with a focus on grammar, spelling, consistency, and clarity.
Ensure all content complies with internal, client, and journal style guides.
Use digital markup tools proficiently, applying tracked changes and comments for transparent feedback.
Proofread typeset materials, reviewing layout elements like figures, tables, colours, size, quality, and resolution; coordinate with studio or journals for corrections.
Verify accuracy of redrawn figures, PowerPoint files, and PDFs compared to original submissions.
Collaborate with teams to confirm all necessary copyright and author permissions are secured and correctly documented.
Maintain and update client style guides, ensuring consistent application across all accounts.
Validate scientific accuracy by checking data, references, and source materials in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Work closely with scientific staff to resolve any data discrepancies or uncertainties.
Escalate any concerns or unclear data to the appropriate team members to uphold quality standards.
Track and report actual versus budgeted time on projects; complete and submit timesheets punctually.
Alert management proactively when task scopes, deadlines, or budgets are at risk.

Candidate Requirements

Degree in life sciences is mandatory.
Minimum one year experience at a medical communications agency, medical journal, or related environment.
Exceptional command of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Problem-solving mindset with sound judgment and a solutions-oriented approach.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced agency setting.
Excellent multitasking, planning, and organizational capabilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, EndNote, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
Experienced in using digital markup, tracked changes, and editing software.
