Job description

Role Overview

This position involves collaborating with colleagues to coordinate and manage daily tasks performed by operational staff within the department. The primary goal is to support the delivery of a cost-effective, customer-focused cleaning service across Health Board facilities.

As part of a team, the Domestic Supervisor serves as the initial point of contact for Domestic Assistants and, when operating in community settings, also oversees Portering Assistants. The role demands a dedication to maintaining high-quality cleaning standards within the Health Board's premises, fostering knowledge sharing of effective practices as procedures evolve to meet changing requirements.

The supervisor applies skills in leading, coaching, and auditing cleaning activities across areas categorized from very high to low risk according to the National Standards of Cleanliness, each demanding different audit frequencies. Ensuring adherence to best cleaning practices is essential for both self and others.

Additionally, the postholder provides support to the Assistant Hotel Services Manager (Domestic), making autonomous decisions in their absence and contributing to the continual development of a responsive and economically efficient service.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily cleaning operations and coordinate activities of Domestic Assistants and Portering Assistants when applicable.
  • Supervise, train, and audit cleaning procedures aligned with national cleanliness standards.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout Health Board locations, including Gwynedd hospital and community sites.
  • Work a rotational schedule between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM delivering 30 hours per week of service.
  • Support the Assistant Hotel Services Manager, assuming management responsibilities when required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of NVQ Level 3 certification or equivalent practical experience is required.
  • Proven experience working in a healthcare cleaning environment is essential.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a similar context is necessary to fulfill the role effectively.

Additional Information

  • Welsh language proficiency is desirable but not mandatory; speakers of both Welsh and English are encouraged to apply.
