Overview
Vertex Resource Group Ltd. is seeking a full-time, permanent Dispatcher to be based in Whitecourt, Alberta. The ideal candidate will manage daily fleet dispatch operations, ensuring seamless communication with employees and clients while maintaining schedules and resolving equipment issues promptly.
Key Duties
- Develop and maintain schedules for truck drivers and employees.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers concerning transportation activities.
- Diagnose equipment-related problems and offer timely solutions to customers.
- Deliver responsive customer service to clients across various functional areas.
- Review and approve work tickets, driver logs, timesheets, and manage leave requests.
- Regularly monitor communication channels including calls and emails.
- Provide expert guidance and support to drivers and management as necessary.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or managers.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least two years of dispatching experience with trucks and personnel in sectors such as oil and gas, pipeline, power transmission, mining, construction, or municipal industries.
- Comprehensive understanding of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations, Hours of Service (HOS) laws, weight and dimension restrictions, permits, load securement, and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standards.
- Possession of valid H2S Alive, First Aid, Confined Space Operations (CSO) and Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) certifications.
- Holding a valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean 5-year driving record; Class 1 license is an advantage.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced computer literacy.
- Ability to perform effectively both independently and collaboratively across different functional teams and professions.
- Exceptional customer service skills paired with the capacity to manage high workloads in fast-paced, pressure situations.
- Decisive and calm decision-making abilities in stressful environments.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
