Role Overview
The Discipline Support Officer plays a crucial part in maintaining a safe, orderly, and disciplined environment within the school premises. This role involves handling student behavioural issues, conducting investigations, and collaborating closely with the Student Management Team to uphold school discipline and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in investigating student incidents, conducting interviews, and preparing reports related to disciplinary matters.
- Oversee detention periods by monitoring student attendance and behaviour carefully.
- Support students undergoing in-house suspension and ensure their smooth reintegration into classes afterwards.
- Provide supervision across campus during critical times such as recess, dismissal, and transition between lessons.
- Encourage and promote positive behaviour among students and aid in resolving conflicts.
- Keep accurate discipline records and follow up on cases of detention non-compliance.
- Maintain clear communication with students, parents, and school staff concerning disciplinary issues.
- Collaborate with the Student Management Team to foster a secure and disciplined school atmosphere.
Requirements
- Possess at least a GCE 'O' Level certificate or its equivalent.
- Have a minimum of five years’ experience in uniformed services, law enforcement, or managing school discipline settings.
- Experience working with student management, youth engagement, or behavioural support interventions.
- Proficient in conducting investigations, disciplinary processes, and managing related case files.
- Thorough understanding of confidentiality standards and applicable rules and regulations.
- Maintain a calm, firm, and professional demeanor when dealing with student discipline issues.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication capabilities.
- Able to perform effectively both autonomously and within a team environment, particularly with the Student Management Team.
- Competent in basic computer skills required for documentation and reporting tasks.
