Director, Solution Architecture

Overview

This position involves providing expert guidance to support the sales and deployment of Context Labs’ technological solutions, particularly emphasizing oil and gas facilities and greenhouse gas emissions expertise. The role requires close collaboration with sales teams, product managers, and customers to deliver demos, evaluate digital readiness, and address intricate data integration challenges. It is a prominent role within a growing company, covering both hands-on technical and client-facing activities in pre- and post-sales phases, alongside mentoring junior team members. Reporting to the Chief Customer Officer, the role also interacts with senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop pre-sales technical strategies, establish demo standards, and define reference implementation approaches.
• Support engagements with executive sponsors.
• Ensure sales processes are aligned with delivery and support bandwidth.
• Create architectural standards and reusable design patterns applicable across multiple customers.
• Align solution architecture strategies with evolving product and platform goals.
• Define qualification and delivery criteria and frameworks for capturing system requirements on a global scale.
• Set minimum technical readiness levels and manage escalation procedures across deals.
• Establish architectural principles enhancing scalability, performance, and solution reuse.
• Ensure customer solutions align with the platform’s long-term architecture vision.
• Govern emissions architecture standards ensuring consistent calculation logic, methodology interpretation, and audit readiness.
• Judge and approve exceptions to architectural standards.
• Oversee standards and procedures related to knowledge engineering and maintain integration with the Context Labs knowledge graph technology.
• Define data integration patterns, asset modeling standards, and scalability strategies across the portfolio.
• Govern output standards including certificates, compliance reports, and operational dashboards, ensuring they remain credible, verifiable, and regulatory compliant.
• Maintain architectural consistency throughout implementations and enforce global system design standards.
• Coordinate alignment between sales, solution architects/engineers, delivery project managers, and support teams to ensure smooth handoff and continuous improvement based on post-live feedback.

Experience and Qualifications

• Proficient balancing growth targets with delivery risks, regulatory exposure, and platform integrity considerations.
• Experience leading and building a solution architecture team, establishing standards, accountability, and leadership development.
• Comprehensive understanding at portfolio level of emissions architecture, knowledge graph design, data integration strategies, and platform scalability.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts effectively to non-technical audiences.
• Strong organizational capabilities.
• Experienced in enterprise software implementations, particularly involving complex data integration and migrations.

Preferred Additional Credentials

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline (process/process safety, operations, mechanical, environmental).
• Substantial experience within oil and gas operating facilities (upstream, midstream, downstream) with strong grasp of operational challenges and effective cross-functional communication.
• Project Management or Agile certifications are advantageous.
• Familiarity with Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Cause & Effects charts, Electrical One-Lines, and Facility Layout Drawings.
• Prior exposure to software development, modern application architecture, and RESTful API integrations is a plus but not mandatory.
• Ability to write SQL queries and navigate complex datasets.
• Experience using Atlassian management tools preferred.
