Designer

Overview

As a Designer at Crate and Barrel, you will inspire customers by showcasing the latest home design trends and helping them imagine possibilities for their living spaces. You will establish lasting relationships by guiding clients in furnishing individual pieces or entire homes, employing your expertise across diverse design aesthetics from classic to modern. Using advanced digital tools during both in-store and in-home consultations allows you to bring design ideas to reality.

Key Responsibilities

• Energize sales and enhance customer engagement by promoting company programs, utilizing leads, and maintaining active interaction on the sales floor.
• Develop sophisticated design presentations including moodboards, 2D and 3D floor plans, product lists, and formal customer proposals using preferred digital design tools.
• Manage design consultations in multiple formats — in-store, at home, via email, phone, or virtually.
• Ensure project delivery within set deadlines.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of brand aesthetics and merchandising strategies across all channels, including Store, E-Commerce, and Catalog.
• Stay well-informed on product details, care instructions, competitor activities, and current interior design trends.
• Achieve sales objectives, KPIs, service targets, and maintain productivity while employing effective selling techniques on the floor.
• Listen closely to customers to suggest the most suitable products and communicate loyalty benefits such as designer rewards and credit programs.
• Exemplify exceptional customer service characterized by a positive demeanor, enthusiasm, and efficiency.
• Assist in-store training initiatives, educating staff on design services and offerings.
• Build and sustain client networks and relationships for ongoing business development.
• Apply foundational interior design skills including spatial planning, fabric choice, lighting, and style coordination.
• Exhibit strong communication skills to effectively articulate brand vision and meet customer needs.
• Display technological proficiency with tools such as 2D/3D design software, Google suite, video conferencing, and iPad use.
• Quickly adapt to changing business dynamics and be an agent of transformation within the company.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of one year experience in furniture sales, home décor design, retail, or customer service, ideally involving personalized client interactions and tailored recommendations.
• Proficient with design and communication technologies including Google platforms and virtual tools; familiarity with design software preferred.
• Possess a strong passion for home interiors and demonstrated ability to maintain long-term customer relationships.
• Remaining current with design trends and technological tools is essential.
