Job description
Role Overview
This position offers an outstanding chance for a capable Design Coordinator to contribute to a significant construction initiative in Galway. The role focuses on ensuring timely, coordinated, and compliant design delivery aligned with commercial and construction goals.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate the generation of design documentation amongst project team members.
- Verify design compliance with project specifications, employer requirements, relevant laws, and regulations.
- Lead consultants and subcontractors to meet scheduled information submissions.
- Examine and consolidate drawings, specifications, and technical documents for construction appropriateness.
- Maintain management of design schedules, responsibility assignments, change tracking, risk and opportunity logs, and other critical tracking tools.
- Organize and conduct design team meetings and workshops, ensuring clear task allocation and timely completion.
- Promptly address design challenges with consideration of buildability, scheduling, cost efficiency, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with the broader project group to synchronize design, procurement, and construction timelines.
- Assist Design Manager in managing consultant and specialist contractor contracts.
- Support compliance with BCAR, building control, planning conditions, warranty, environmental certification, and project handover requirements.
- Supervise document controllers to maintain effective document management and project procedure adherence.
- Lead efforts to close out design phases, including finalizing unresolved design items, submissions, as-built records, and operation and maintenance files.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Background as a Design Coordinator, Senior Design Coordinator, Design Manager, or equivalent in construction settings.
- Thorough technical knowledge of design and construction processes.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultants and subcontractors.
- Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Understanding of BCAR, building control regulations, planning procedures, and BIM/document management workflows.
- Awareness of commercial, contractual, and scheduling factors influencing projects.
- Strong interpersonal communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities to juggle various priorities effectively.
- Proactive and solution-oriented mindset with rigorous attention to detail.
- Capable of independent work, ownership of tasks, and driving issues to resolution.
