Role Overview

As a Data Science Specialist based full-time on-site in Dar es Salaam, you'll collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business units to design and implement data-driven applications. Responsibilities encompass data gathering and cleaning from diverse sources, exploratory data analysis, developing and validating statistical and machine learning models, and converting data discoveries into practical business insights. Ensuring model accuracy, optimizing algorithms for deployment, and enhancing experimentation approaches are also key. Effective communication and thorough documentation are vital, particularly for conveying complex data concepts to non-technical audiences.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• A solid grounding in statistics and data science fundamentals, including probability, hypothesis testing, and machine learning principles.
• Proven expertise in data analytics to transform raw datasets into meaningful and actionable insights.
• Strong analytical capabilities for problem definition, pattern recognition, and supporting business decisions.
• Proficiency in Python or R, SQL, and visualization platforms such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Experience with deploying models within production environments, preferably leveraging cloud infrastructure and contemporary data pipelines.
• At least a bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related domains.
• Willingness and ability to work physically in Dar es Salaam, collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, and clearly articulate technical results.
• Knowledge or interest in African market dynamics and emerging economies to apply data science solutions with local relevance.
