Data Platform Quality Assurance Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Quality Assurance Engineer skilled in testing data platforms. The candidate will be responsible for verifying data pipelines, backend APIs, transformations, dashboards, and overall platform workflows. A solid grasp of Azure Synapse, Data Warehouse concepts, and medallion architecture is essential to ensure data precision, integrity, security, and high performance throughout the platform.

Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out detailed testing activities including the development of test plans, cases, and scripts covering data pipelines, ETL processes, backend APIs, and user interfaces such as portals and reporting tools.
• Identify and resolve issues related to ETL data accuracy, performance bottlenecks, and scalability challenges within large data workloads, with extensive use of Azure Synapse and associated architectures.
• Validate onboarding workflows by ensuring seamless data ingestion, transformation, and reporting flows from source to analytics for new clients.
• Conduct thorough validation of dashboards, key performance indicators, and analytic views to guarantee they present consistent, reliable, and current information. Work collaboratively with business intelligence and reporting teams on both UI/UX and data accuracy.
• Test role-based access controls and permissions rigorously to ensure compliance with authorization policies, governance standards, and data security requirements.
• Develop and maintain automated testing suites to support regression, functional, integration, API, and data pipeline testing. Contribute towards continuous testing integration within CI/CD pipelines.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in data platform and ETL testing with a strong focus on pipeline quality assurance.
• Practical knowledge of Azure Synapse, data warehouse structures, and medallion architectural patterns.
• Proficiency in SQL for data validation and problem diagnosis.
• Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or RestAssured.
• Background in dashboard and reporting validation using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks including Selenium, pytest, Robot Framework, or equivalents.
• Strong analytical mindset, excellent debugging skills, and clear documentation capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating Azure DevOps pipelines.
• Knowledge of data security and compliance testing frameworks.
• Understanding of cloud-native data architecture principles.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should hold a B.Tech or B.E. degree in any specialization, or a B.Sc or B.C.A. in any field.
