Customer Delivery Driver - Crawley CFC

About the Role

Join Tesco as a Customer Delivery Driver based in Crawley, delivering groceries directly to customers' homes within specified time slots over various days. The role combines driving with customer interaction, requiring a helpful attitude and attention to excellent service. Working hours vary across Sunday to Saturday with shifts ranging from early mornings to late evenings. Drivers are guaranteed a minimum of 16 hours weekly, although part-time arrangements (minimum 12 hours) are available. Shift schedules will be shared three weeks in advance with some flexibility in availability times.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of delivery vans and trays.
• Ensure the rear yard area is left tidy and litter-free after shifts.
• Participate in washing trays as part of the hygiene process.
• Load vans as necessary and perform safety checks before driving.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding order updates, substitutions, and refunds if needed.
• Deliver orders within agreed customer time windows and contact customers if arriving early.
• Notify the store or delivery center promptly if running significantly late (30+ minutes).

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a UK, EU or EEA full driving license (manual or automatic) held for at least 12 months without more than 3 penalty points.
• Comply with Great Britain domestic driving regulations.
• Enjoy building positive relationships with colleagues and customers fostering a welcoming and team-oriented atmosphere.
• Adapt quickly to meet evolving customer needs and oversee operational changes smoothly.

Compensation & Benefits

• The starting pay rate is £14.18 per hour, elevated to £15.45 per hour for locations within the M25. Additional location-based payments may apply.
• Holiday entitlement begins at 20 days plus one personal day, increasing to 22 days after 12 months, excluding bank holidays.
