About the Role
As the Crypto Card Product Manager, you will join at a pivotal stage where the initial card issuance system is live and active users are engaging. Your mission is to evolve the product beyond its minimum viable stage by developing a diverse portfolio of card offerings—virtual, physical, co-branded, and tiered cards. Over the course of a year, your achievements will include launching at least one new card SKU, enhancing activation and retention rates from adequate to exceptional, and establishing a robust data framework to identify forthcoming product innovations. This role uniquely demands strong expertise in both traditional card issuance mechanics and crypto-native product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage a comprehensive roadmap transitioning from a singular card product to a diverse lineup, defining target audiences, benefits, and unit economic models for each card SKU.
- Optimize the full lifecycle of cardholders—including application processing, KYC compliance, card issuance, activation, initial usage, recurring transactions, and product upgrades—ensuring high conversion rates throughout the funnel.
- Collaborate with issuing banks, card networks (Visa and Mastercard), and BIN sponsors to transform external dependencies into actionable product features, proactively managing timelines.
- Partner with the risk management team to fine-tune transaction authorizations and anti-fraud methodologies, balancing chargeback and fraud rates with user experience, while maintaining accountability for per-card profitability.
- Develop and analyze comprehensive spending insights such as merchant category code distributions, top merchants, cross-border usage, and crypto-to-fiat conversion timing to pinpoint new product opportunities like cashback, subscription services, cross-border packages, and rewards programs.
Required Qualifications
- Proven ownership of a card product lifecycle with thorough understanding of authorization, clearing, settlement, and refund processes and their common failure points.
- In-depth knowledge of the commercial card model, including cost structures, interchange economics, and foreign exchange markups, with the ability to effectively engage with BIN sponsors and issuing banks independently.
- Experience managing compliance constraints while successfully shipping products, adept at balancing user needs and regulatory requirements without allowing compliance issues to halt progress.
- Capable of deriving actionable insights from raw transaction data, including analyzing merchant category code trends, conversion funnel drop-offs, and cohort behaviors proactively before anomalies appear on dashboards.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience working with crypto card products, neobank card issuance operations (such as Revolut, Wise, or Airwallex), or traditional card network product management (Visa/Mastercard program roles).
- Track record in launching card products in new markets with fresh regulatory and banking relationship building.
- Designed and managed rewards or cashback programs with attached financial responsibilities beyond just feature definitions.
