Job Overview

The Course Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the planning, execution, and evaluation of Master of Science courses within the department. Operating with significant autonomy and in consultation with department management, faculty, and the Program Director, this position involves determining course offerings reflecting program requirements, enrollment trends, and faculty availability. Responsibilities include curriculum planning, scheduling, curriculum mapping using tools like Illios, and analyzing enrollment data.

Core Responsibilities

• Independently plan courses and timelines each term in coordination with the Program Director and faculty, considering program needs and trends (20% of time).
• Propose replacement courses to department management as needed (10%).
• Forecast future course offerings based on faculty availability and commitments like sabbaticals and grants (10%).
• Resolve challenges related to classroom space and scheduling while balancing curriculum and faculty needs (10%).
• Advise leadership on complex curriculum matters, monitor the MS program curriculum map, and alert leadership to unmet course objectives (20%).
• Support new course approvals and curriculum changes by liaising with academic governance bodies (5%).
• Conduct research on academic trends impacting offerings and assist in developing program assessment tools (15%).
• Assist faculty with student enrollment and attendance management, education technology needs, and other support tasks as directed (10%).

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Global Health or equivalent experience, plus at least three years of relevant experience.
• Proven background in global health policy analysis, leadership, and academic research methods.
• Experience facilitating course instruction and strong communication and analytical skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within complex organizational environments.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in Global Health or comparable experience.
• Proficiency with university-specific software applications.
• Comprehensive understanding of university and department policies, course requirements, and degree standards.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to engage with senior management, faculty, and students.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical acumen for identifying trends and resolving conflicts.
