Job Overview

The Department of Transportation, Airports Division at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport is currently seeking candidates for the position of Contracts Assistant I. This role involves drafting non-engineering contracts and specifications, assisting with engineering contract preparation, and processing contracts and related documents. This position is contract-based and located onsite.

Compensation and Hiring Process

The salary range for this position is $3,900 to $4,933 per month (SR-13, Step C to I), with exact starting rates dependent on funding availability, qualifications, and other pertinent considerations. This recruitment is ongoing and may be closed at any time.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare and draft contracts that are not engineering-related along with relevant specifications.
  • Assist in the preparation and drafting of engineering contracts and specifications as needed.
  • Support the contract processing cycle including document preparation and management.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • Authorized legal permission to work in the United States as a citizen, national, permanent resident alien, or otherwise eligible under federal employment laws.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; alternatively, work experience that shows ability to comprehend and apply written instructions or exhibits strong verbal communication skills. Such experience may include part-time or unpaid work, provided it was continuous.
  • A minimum of three years of responsible experience preparing or processing contracts, specifications, and legal documents requiring knowledge of relevant laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of specification writing, contract drafting, legal notices, and contract letting procedures including bid advertisements, instructions for bidders, proposals, and bond forms.

  • Applicants subject to a federal criminal history records check due to airport security requirements. Prospective employees must pass a fingerprint-based background check to obtain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance, demonstrating no disqualifying convictions within the past 10 years.
  • Cost for fingerprint background check will be borne by the applicant.
