Role summary

Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School are seeking a Computational Research Associate to join Dr. Kenneth Westerman’s interdisciplinary research team. The role focuses on computational work in genetic epidemiology using large biobank and cohort datasets, with research tied to precision nutrition and efforts to prevent cardiometabolic disease.

This opportunity is aimed at an early-career researcher who wants to strengthen advanced computational capability, contribute to meaningful research, and build a publication track record while working within the MGH, HMS, and Broad Institute community.

What you will do

• Write and execute basic database queries as needed.
• Support the upkeep of existing reporting systems.
• Help prepare presentations for important stakeholders.
• Work alongside senior analysts to build, maintain, and share reports.
• Develop knowledge of established analysis best practices and methods.
• Monitor ongoing performance trends and forecast data patterns accurately.

Education and experience

A bachelor’s degree in Analytics or a related field is required. Prior experience may be accepted in place of a degree.

Previous data analysis experience of 0 to 1 year is preferred.

Knowledge and abilities

• Growing capability in statistics, data interpretation, and working with datasets.
• Strong time management and project coordination skills.
• Good judgment for making decisions within assigned responsibilities.
• Comfort using word processing, spreadsheets, and database software on a PC.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and technical aptitude.
• Ability to work effectively with employees and managers at all levels and build strong working relationships.
• Skill in identifying problems, understanding business impact, recommending solutions, and supporting corrective action.

Work details

This is a regular full-time role with a hybrid remote arrangement. The position is based at 100 Cambridge Street in Boston, MA. The schedule is day shift, 40 hours per week.

Employee type: Regular. Job grade: 5.

Compensation

Base pay is listed at $53,040.00 to $75,888.80 per year. Final compensation may vary based on skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and other job-related factors. The organization also notes that total rewards may include benefits, career growth opportunities, differentials, premiums, bonuses, and recognition programs.
