About the role
This position is suited to someone who is forward-thinking, inquisitive, driven, and commercially sharp. The role sits at the centre of contract and commercial administration for major project work in Christchurch.
What you will do
- Oversee complex contract agreements and make sure commercial rights, responsibilities, and obligations are tracked and managed correctly.
- Handle payment claim workflows, assist with evaluations, and coordinate the supporting paperwork.
- Spot, assess, and administer contract variations, scope changes, and commercial claims.
- Draft formal notices, correspondence, and other commercial documents.
- Develop effective working relationships with project teams, delivery partners, and suppliers.
- Assist with project reporting, governance processes, audit requirements, and compliance tasks.
What you will bring
- Substantial background in commercial management, contract administration, claims handling, or a similar role in large infrastructure, construction, or project-based environments.
- Strong capability to review and interpret detailed contract documents and identify risks, opportunities, and entitlements.
- Proven experience working with variations, claims, payment administration, and contract compliance.
- Well-developed analytical thinking, negotiation ability, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly for formal notices and contractual correspondence.
- A tertiary qualification in Commerce, Law, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or another relevant field.
