We are currently seeking a dedicated Caretaker to join us in the South Hampshire region. This permanent full-time position requires 39 hours of work per week and attendance at our Portsmouth office for training sessions and occasional meetings.
Job Overview
The primary responsibility of the Caretaker is to maintain the cleanliness and safety of communal areas in residential blocks and properties. Duties include rubbish and fly-tipping clearance, cleaning common hallways, performing fire alarm and safety equipment tests, and minor maintenance tasks. You will follow a scheduled work pattern to maintain sites effectively and complete all work to defined standards and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to a work rota for routine caretaking services.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of communal spaces to prescribed standards.
- Perform fire safety compliance inspections regularly.
- Complete electronic documentation of site visits, maintenance issues, and minor repairs.
- Support the 7-step first-class repairs service process.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in cleaning and caretaking or janitorial roles.
- Competence operating cleaning machinery and performing basic maintenance tasks.
- Possess a valid Category B driving licence held for at least one year, enabling use of company vans.
- Comfortable using handheld electronic devices for recording activities.
- Physically capable of manual handling, working at heights, lifting heavy or bulky items, and maintaining high mobility including walking and loading/unloading vehicles.
- Successful candidates are subject to driving licence verification and DBS checks.
