Position Overview

This position is a full-time, on-site Biomedical Engineer role located at Hawassa University Comprehensive Specialized Hospital. The individual will be responsible for the installation, calibration, operation, and upkeep of medical devices to ensure safe and dependable functionality. Day-to-day duties include performing routine equipment inspections, diagnosing and resolving technical issues, coordinating repair activities, and maintaining maintenance logs in line with hospital guidelines and regulatory requirements. The role demands close cooperation with clinical staff to facilitate efficient utilization of biomedical technologies, user training on device operation, and contribution to equipment assessment and procurement planning. Additionally, the Biomedical Engineer will participate in instituting safety procedures, support quality enhancement programs, and assist with managing inventory of biomedical apparatus and spare parts.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Proven expertise in installation, calibration, and preventive maintenance of biomedical devices.
• Strong aptitude for troubleshooting, repairing, and providing technical assistance across a variety of medical equipment.
• Knowledge of healthcare technology standards, safety norms, and quality assurance processes.
• Capability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary clinical, technical, and administrative teams within a hospital.
• Competence in documentation, including accurate maintenance records, reporting, and asset tracking.
• Educational background comprising a bachelor's degree or diploma in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical discipline.
• Previous experience in healthcare or hospital environments is considered advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and strong multitasking and organizational capabilities.
