Automation Hardware & Control System Engineer

Overview

As a key member of the Application Engineering team at Asiatic Traders, based in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, the Automation Hardware & Control System Engineer will be deeply involved in the design, assembly, and commissioning of industrial automation control systems using Rockwell and Siemens technologies.

This role requires effective coordination with technical and mechanical teams, vendors, and customers to guarantee that control panels and systems comply with specifications, drawings, and electrical standards.

Core Responsibilities

• Analyze customer requirements, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment layouts to formulate detailed electrical and control system designs.
• Create comprehensive electrical schematics including power distribution, single-line diagrams, control panel general arrangements, wiring diagrams for PLC, HMI, SCADA, VFD, MCC, and instrumentation.
• Develop detailed terminal block diagrams, cable schedules, input/output wiring diagrams, and component layouts while generating precise bills of materials and performing load calculations for transformers and power supplies.
• Select appropriate electrical hardware such as circuit breakers, contactors, relays, terminals, power supplies, and ensure segregation of wiring types and safety requirements.
• Review and validate customer drawings to identify and resolve technical inconsistencies prior to manufacturing.
• Demonstrate hands-on expertise with Rockwell Automation products including various PLC systems (CompactLogix, ControlLogix, Micro800), Allen-Bradley HMI, PowerFlex drives, Ethernet/IP networks, and Siemens automation devices including S7 PLCs, HMIs, SINAMICS drives, and communication protocols like PROFINET and PROFIBUS.
• Independently prepare and adapt electrical and control drawings using industry-standard design software such as Capital Panel Design.
• Supervise panel wiring activities on-site by guiding technicians and electricians on correct wiring practices, component placement, cable routing, labeling, and testing to ensure quality and safety compliance.
• Conduct comprehensive factory testing including pre-power checks, insulation resistance, loop checking of digital and analog inputs/outputs, communication verification, safety interlocks, and support factory acceptance and pre-dispatch inspections.
• Support basic PLC and HMI hardware configuration such as module setup, IP addressing, Ethernet and PROFINET network configuration, and hardware fault diagnostics under software engineer oversight.

Additional Information

The role requires frequent travel to customer sites as needed and reports to the Project Manager or Head of Application Engineering.

Compensation

This full-time position offers a monthly salary ranging between 30000 and 35000 INR.

Work Location

Position is based in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India with periodic travel to project sites.
