AI Backend Engineer (m/w/d) – Intelligent Document Processing

Job Overview

We are seeking an AI Backend Engineer to join an innovative and growing company located in Weiden, Bavaria. This role focuses on developing intelligent backend systems that automate the analysis, structuring, and evaluation of complex receipt and transaction data. Unlike traditional image recognition, this job emphasizes smart data processing following text extraction by modern OCR technologies. The challenge lies in recognizing, classifying, and assessing the tax relevance of products from diverse receipts and invoices worldwide using advanced AI models and backend logic.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design and build smart backend applications using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Create AI-driven workflows to analyze and handle unstructured receipt data.
• Develop automated solutions for product and transaction classification.
• Integrate and enhance Large Language Models (LLMs), machine learning models, and AI services.
• Develop performant APIs and data pipelines.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and continuous advancement of the AI platform.
• Optimize quality, performance, and scalability consistently.

Candidate Requirements

• Approximately 5 years of professional backend development experience.
• Proficient in TypeScript and Node.js development.
• Experience designing AI-supported applications or data-driven backend systems.
• Familiarity with LLMs, AI frameworks, or machine learning technologies.
• Strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for transforming complex data structures into intelligent solutions.
• Good command of the German language.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field.
• Experience in the FinTech sector.
• Knowledge of modern AI frameworks such as LangChain, OpenAI API, Azure AI, Anthropic, or similar.
• Experience with data modeling and handling large-scale datasets.

Work Conditions
