Role Overview
The Resource Recovery Advisor position is a fixed-term role available through to July 2027, focused on advancing waste minimisation and resource recovery initiatives in Lower Hutt. This role involves collaborating with councils, contractors, community groups, and industry partners to design and execute projects aligned with the Waste Management and Minimisation Plan. The position emphasizes reducing waste at the source, encouraging behaviour change, and supporting initiatives that transition towards a circular economy.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to and manage projects aimed at minimizing waste and promoting resource recovery.
- Drive innovative programs such as reducing construction waste, enhancing organic material use, and improving sustainability of waste facilities.
- Engage directly with community members, industry stakeholders, and internal teams to deliver impactful outcomes.
- Analyze waste data to inform policy development and future strategies.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience coordinating and delivering projects, preferably related to waste reduction, environmental management, or sustainability.
- Strong ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity or quick adaptability to waste management legislation, practices, and emerging trends.
- Competence in prioritizing and managing multiple tasks to see projects through to completion.
- Effective written and oral communication skills for reporting and presentations.
