Job Overview
This role involves working outdoors in a salvage yard environment, focusing on draining fluids from vehicles and dismantling various car parts in preparation for yard placement.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate mainly outside removing parts such as quarter panels, doors, lids, hoods, axles, and suspension components from salvage vehicles.
- Place vehicles in designated areas within the yard efficiently and record vehicle information accurately and promptly.
- Coordinate with the Loader Operator to properly stage or move vehicles within the yard.
- Inspect the yard, collecting and disposing of debris found around vehicles being removed from the yard.
- Dismantle tires as part of vehicle processing.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment adhering to company and regulatory standards.
- Follow all EPA and OSHA regulations diligently during tasks.
- Use all required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Comply with company policies and procedures consistently.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for the company's quality system.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Preferred minimum education: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic ability to execute straightforward tasks effectively.
- Cooperative attitude to work well within a team environment.
- Keen attention to detail ensuring precision in assignments.
- Effective communication skills are necessary.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Constant standing or mobility is required, except when operating machinery.
- No restrictions on lifting; able to handle weights up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Comfortable working at heights over 15 feet, including climbing ladders and stairs.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical components.
- All-weather outdoor work without shelter.
- Ability to tolerate a range of temperatures and moderately loud noise levels.
