Welder

Overview

Om Tech seeks a proficient Welder with a focus on safety and precision to contribute to our construction and manufacturing projects. The role involves cutting, shaping, and joining metal components using specialized welding tools, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with strict safety standards.

Key Duties

• Decipher engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents to accurately plan dimensions and welding steps.
• Prepare materials by selecting, measuring, cutting with plasma cutters, saws, torches, and cleaning metal parts ahead of welding.
• Execute welding operations utilizing manual and semi-automatic equipment such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Core techniques across multiple positions.
• Conduct thorough inspections of welds and structures to identify defects, ensuring adherence to quality and safety requirements.
• Perform repair tasks on damaged metal components by adding weld layers, filling gaps, and reshaping structures.
• Maintain and troubleshoot welding equipment to sustain safe and efficient functionality.
• Follow all workplace safety protocols rigorously, including using appropriate personal protective equipment like helmets, shields, and gloves.

Candidate Profile

• Experience as a professional Welder or completion of accredited welding apprenticeships or certifications.
• Knowledge of various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Core.
• Proficient in reading blueprints and related mechanical schematics.
• Skilled in using grinders, calipers, squares, and saws for manual and powered tool application.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination, dexterity, steady hand, and attention to detail applied to produce quality welds.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot and problem-solve, and work efficiently in team environments.

Physical and Other Requirements

• Capability to stand, crouch, and bend over long periods including working in awkward positions.
• Physical strength to lift and handle metal parts and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
• Certification from recognized entities such as the American Welding Society or similar local bodies preferred.
• Experience with operating heavy machinery, cranes, or forklifts considered an asset.
