VMC Machine Operator

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Operator to join our manufacturing team. The role involves operating VMC machines to produce components accurately as per production plans while upholding quality standards and safety norms.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate VMC machinery to manufacture parts according to production requirements.
• Safely load and unload raw materials and finished products.
• Set up machines, change tools, and adjust offsets as needed for production.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, process documentation, and instructions.
• Perform in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments like Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and others.
• Ensure all components meet specified tolerances and quality benchmarks.
• Monitor machine operations and promptly report any abnormalities or malfunctions.
• Maintain thorough production logs, inspection reports, and equipment records.
• Undertake measures to minimize machine downtime and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
• Follow all standard operating procedures and safety protocols diligently.
• Keep the machinery and work environment clean and well-maintained.
• Assist with preventive maintenance to preserve machine performance.
• Strive to meet daily output targets while maintaining high quality standards.
• Reduce material waste, rejection, and rework through effective process control.

Qualifications and Skills

• Educational background: ITI or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, Turning, or allied trades.
• Prior experience of 1 to 3 years in operating VMC machines is preferred.
• Familiarity with CNC machining processes and machine operations.
• Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Proficiency using measuring instruments for quality inspections.
• Basic knowledge of CNC programming, tooling options, and machine setup adjustments.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity for troubleshooting technical issues.
