Role Overview
The Vice President of Quality Control is responsible for implementing the Group Operations vision for quality standards, overseeing multiple operation domains including Assets Operations, Trade Finance, Accounts, and Loans Operations to ensure proper controls are in place. This role includes supervising ongoing projects to comply with strategic plans, authorizing all process and system quality improvements, and conducting development or re-engineering analyses for international branches.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor performance indicators such as KPIs, turnaround times, error rates, and service level agreements across operations teams to track and enhance quality.
- Implement best practices and KPIs relevant to quality control at the Vice President level.
- Delegate authority appropriately and oversee its exercise within assigned teams.
- Maintain strong collaborative relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders to align with the Group’s goals.
- Provide data and information to auditors and compliance functions as needed.
- Address customer queries regarding bank products and work towards efficient resolution of requests.
- Establish secure procedures for safeguarding client documents and ensure timely archiving.
- Ensure compliance with KYC and regulatory requirements during operations transaction reviews.
- Support staff training and conduct periodic reviews and meetings with direct supervisors.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and encourage innovative thinking among team members.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold data protection standards to safeguard sensitive information.
- Comply with all pertinent legal, regulatory, and internal policies, including AML, sanctions, data protection, fraud control, and conflict of interest policies.
- Manage operational risks through adherence to the Three Lines of Defense framework and support reporting and remediation related to risk controls.
- Promote a culture of compliance and conduct risk awareness to ensure favorable client outcomes.
- Ensure mandatory training completion and maintain required competence levels.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by QNB management to support organizational objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 12 years’ relevant experience in banking, ideally with at least 6 years focused on operations within a well-regarded international bank.
- Preferred background in auditing and control.
- Familiarity with banking regulatory frameworks and best operational practices.
- Knowledgeable about KYC, AML regulations, and world-check standards.
- Effective communication skills in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
- Proficient with MS Office and banking software applications.
- Self-driven, detail-conscious, analytical, with robust problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to thrive in multicultural environments with exposure to diverse customs.
- Expertise in operations management including capacity planning, project and performance management, MIS, and budgeting.
