Role Overview

The UX/UI Designer will play a key role in the Experience Design team of Home Depot Canada's e-Commerce division. This position involves transforming complex business, technical, and customer challenges into straightforward and sophisticated digital solutions, enhancing user engagement on homedepot.ca and the Home Depot mobile app. The successful candidate will use research, data analysis, and intuitive design to develop user-centered experiences aligned with business objectives. Responsibilities include designing wireframes, prototypes, and visual assets that improve usability and interaction, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams such as Product, IT, and UX colleagues to uphold design standards and generate demonstrable value. Effective communication, balancing user needs with business goals, and fostering innovation and iterative improvement are crucial to success.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in Design, Human–Computer Interaction, Psychology, or related disciplines
• At least 2 years of professional experience in UX/UI design
• Skilled in design and prototyping tools like Figma and Miro
• Proficient in UX methods including research, ideation, prototyping, interaction design, and usability testing
• A robust portfolio showcasing diverse UX work throughout various project stages
• Experience collaborating within Agile development environments
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities
• Competent in analyzing data and interpreting user research outcomes
• Familiarity with digital style guides and consistent application of brand guidelines

Key Responsibilities

• Design comprehensive user experiences that support strategic business goals
• Enhance usability processes, maintain documentation, and streamline workflows
• Create visual designs and product components that improve user interaction, founded on research and industry practices
• Engage actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and demonstrations
• Collaborate with UX analysts, designers, writers, and product managers to create scenarios, wireframes, and screen designs
• Adhere to The Home Depot Canada’s digital style guide for all design elements
• Communicate design ideas clearly to gather feedback, gain approval, and facilitate implementation
• Generate visual notes and functional specs for development teams
• Manage several projects concurrently, prioritizing tasks effectively and meeting deadlines
• Maintain consistent communication with developers to ensure design accuracy and usability during development
• Guide and educate non-UX team members about UX principles when suitable
