Role Purpose and Responsibilities

The US Payroll Tier 3 Specialist plays a critical role in overseeing daily payroll functions while collaborating with Tier 2 payroll teams, team leaders, and managers. This position ensures timely and accurate payroll processing and acts as a point of contact for payroll-related client queries. Responsibilities include preparing and distributing payroll reports to both internal and external stakeholders, coordinating efforts with tax and garnishment teams, delivering coaching and training for Tier 2 personnel, and drafting precise payroll process documentation. The role also includes reviewing and approving payroll transmittal reports, managing the payroll team during team leader absences, and leading payroll transmittal operations to guarantee punctual execution. The individual is responsible for performing root cause analyses on payroll issues and escalations and recommending corrective and preventive strategies. Regular auditing of payroll procedures and records to maintain compliance and quality is also a key duty.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

The ideal candidate must have comprehensive knowledge of US payroll laws and tax obligations. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is mandatory, including advanced features such as V-Lookups, Pivot Tables, and Macros. Expertise in payroll testing, data mapping, detailed reporting, and analytical evaluation is strongly desired. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities are essential. A minimum educational qualification of a 3-year degree or diploma is required. Flexibility to work shifts aligned with Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm EST, including occasional extended hours and weekends, is necessary. Having a Certified Payroll Professional (FPC) or comparable payroll certification is advantageous.
