Role Overview

Bloomingdale International School in Penamaluru, Vijayawada is looking for a Transport Incharge to oversee daily school transport activities and report to the Head of Administration. This is a full-time, on-site position focused on safe, reliable, and well-coordinated student transportation.

Key Responsibilities

The role covers planning and supervising the school bus network, ensuring buses run on time, and arranging transport for school functions, trips, exams, and other special activities. It also involves monitoring GPS systems, resolving route or vehicle issues quickly, and keeping transport operations running smoothly.

Student safety is a major part of the job. The selected candidate will need to make sure students are protected during boarding, travel, and drop-off, while also verifying that every vehicle follows school safety requirements and government rules. Regular inspections of buses and transport facilities are expected, along with confirming the presence and working condition of first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, GPS devices, CCTV cameras, and emergency contact details.

The position also includes managing drivers, bus attendants, and other transport staff. Responsibilities include tracking attendance, punctuality, discipline, and overall performance, as well as arranging safety meetings and training. The Transport Incharge must ensure that all drivers hold valid licences, badges, permits, and other required documents.

Vehicle upkeep is another important area. The candidate will schedule preventive maintenance and servicing, keep records for insurance, pollution certificates, permits, registrations, and fitness certificates, and work with service providers to reduce vehicle downtime. Routine checks must be carried out to confirm that buses remain fit for road use.

In addition, the role requires regular communication with parents and coordination with the Head of Administration, Head of School, and academic team regarding transportation needs. Route updates, delays, and emergency alerts should be shared promptly whenever needed.

Documentation and compliance duties include maintaining transport records, student transport lists, driver information, vehicle papers, and daily trip logs. The incumbent must ensure adherence to RTO rules, school transport policies, and statutory safety standards, and also prepare periodic transport reports for the administration department.

The job also demands effective handling of emergencies such as accidents, breakdowns, and other unexpected situations. This includes following emergency response procedures, maintaining incident records, and conducting periodic evacuation and safety drills.

Qualification Requirements

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline and at least 3 to 5 years of experience in transport management, fleet operations, logistics, or school transportation. Experience working in an educational institution is preferred. Strong spoken and written English and Telugu are required, along with working knowledge of MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. The role also calls for strong coordination, organizational, and communication skills, good understanding of RTO rules and vehicle documentation, familiarity with GPS tracking and transport management software, and the ability to stay effective under pressure and during emergencies.
